Distribution: Occurring on both sides of the Cascades crest in Washington; Alaska to California.

Habitat: Marshes, river banks, salt flats, muddy or sandy beaches and shores along and near the coast.

Flowers: June-July

Origin: Native

Description:
General:

Small perennial from a rhizome, with the leaves rising in tufts at intervals along the rhizome.

Leaves:

Leaves reduced to elongate, hollow, entire, transversely septate phyllodes; leaves 3-15 cm. long and 1-4 mm. wide, with 5-11 partitions.

Flowers:

Inflorescence of simple, axillary, pedunculate umbels; peduncles slender, 0.5-3 cm. long, recurved above, much shorter than the leaves; umbel 5- to 12-flowered, the calyx teeth minute, the flowers white; involucre of a few small bracts.

Fruits:

Fruit ovoid, 2 mm. long, the lateral ribs pale, corky-thickened and prominent, the dorsal ribs inconspicuous.
